Viewing a DWF File with Volo View Express

To open an AutoCAD 2002 file with Volo View Express, click here.  Make sure the VVE is installed on your machine first, or you won't be able to see the DWF file.  The DWF file will appear in a new window.  Use this page to see descriptions of the DWF viewing commands, and use the new web page to see the DWF file and to practice using the commands.

Right-click on the drawing to see your menu options:

Pan: Click and drag the hand cursor to move around the DWF file. This command is similar to AutoCAD's pan command.

Zoom: Many zoom options are available.  Zoom In/Out is equivalent to AutoCAD's Zoom Realtime function.  Zoom Previous, All, and Window are also available.

Layers: Brings up a dialog box which allows you to toggle on and off the layers of the DWF file. Click on the light bulb, and watch each layer of the drawing appear and disappear.

Named Views: Brings up a dialog box with saved views. To look at a particular view of a DWF, simply click on the view name in the Named Views dialog box. Only the drawing author can save views in AutoCAD. Save views in the .dwg file by using the DDVIEW command in AutoCAD.

ClearScale: Displays the DWF file in grayscale colors.  Toggle it on and off.

Black and White: Displays the DWF file in Black and White.  Toggle it on and off.

Page Setup: Brings up a page setup dialog box for plotting.  Set the paper size, scale, margins, and orientation of the plot.

Print: Prints the DWF file, according to the settings in Page Setup.

Units: Adjusts the units of the drawing, fonts, and lineweights.

Save Target As: Saves the file to your local computer. In the save file as dialog box, you can specify what type of file you wish to download -- a DWF, an image, or a .dwg file. To receive a .dwg file, the .dwg file must be posted in the same location as the DWF file on the web.
