Obtaining CMI Tools go to the top

CMI Tools is available for purchase for $175 per seat; however, it is available free with a purchase Land Desktop or Civil 3D from CAD Masters.

Civil Design Plug-In go to the top

Although the Civil Design plug-in is not required, a majority of the utilities use profile information, which requires Civil Design.

Station / Offset / Elevation go to the top

This routine will allow you to label the station, offset, and elevation along a Land Desktop defined alignment.  This command is infinitely flexible with the ability to label and/or set a point; use an AutoCAD leader, polyline leader, or no leader at all; and add any prefix or suffix to the label contents:

Possibly the best feature of this utility is the ability to grab the label elevation value from the profile for the alignment.  Do you need to label a top of curb point that is 0.17' below the centerline profile elevation?  We can do that too.  Simply enter the elevation difference from the road centerline to the top of curb.

Here are some samples of how the station / offset / elevation utility can be used:

CMI Tools

In this example, the station and TC elevation are labeled for each lot line.  The TC elevations are determined automatically based on the difference between the finished ground profile elevation and the TC.

Labels are very flexibe with regard to text style, layer, position, leader, suffix, and prefix.

Create 3d Polyline from Profile go to the top

Often times in roadway and subdivision design we need to transition from profile design to 3d modeling.  Create 3d polyline from profile gives us the ability to quickly and easily create a 3d polyline in accordance with our finished ground profile design.  If you would like to model subgrade instead of finished ground, you can enter a global elevation difference for the polyline.

Label Profile and Cross Section Elevations go to the top

Do you need more flexibility when labeling profiles or cross sections?  Do you want your labels to be vertical?  The profile and cross section labeling routines will help:

Point Table Creation go to the top

Create a table within your AutoCAD drawing that shows point information – northing, easting, elevation, description. You can even include stations and offsets to a reference alignment:

Label Alignment Features on Profile go to the top

Label the EC, BC, PCC, PRC, etc. of an alignment on the profile, along with the corresponding finished ground elevation:

Create Profile From 3D Polyline Or Points go to the top

If you don't have the luxury of creating a profile from an existing ground DTM, you can use this utility to create a profile from a 3d polyline or a set of Land Desktop point objects.  CMI Tools will calculate the station of each vertex or point and add this information to the vertical alignment editor along with the corresponding vertex or point elevation.  You have the choice of which vertical alignment you want to add the information to:

This routine is also useful for adding the vertical information of a non-parallel transition alignment to the vertical alignment editor of the master alignment.

Create 3D Polylines From Template Point Codes go to the top

After completing your cross section design, it is often desireable to build a finished ground surface of your roadway, levee, berm, etc.  This utililty will allow you to create 3d polylines from the cross section template point codes.  You can then create a surface using these 3d polylines as breaklines.

Dview Twist Utilities go to the top

These utilities will allow you to set a dview twist angle simply by picking two points.  You can also automatically rotate text and/or point objects such that they "line up" with the current twist angle.
