The primary duty of the BIM Designer is to create designs independently under broad direction from Project Engineer or Project Manager on various design projects. Work may include projects with distinctive design features differing significantly from CAD Technician precedents. May direct preparation of drawings from BIM models by other CAD Technicians of lesser experience under the direction of the CAD production manager. Requires extensive knowledge of CAD, design development, construction documents, technical and engineering knowledge. May work with client or contractor representatives. The BIM designer is closely aligned with the Project Managers/CAD Production Manager Teams that are delivering projects in AutoCAD MEP BIM. The BIM Lead is partner to, and technical resource to, the Project Teams, providing guidance and facilitating support for Project BIM related activities. The BIM designer will work directly with the design engineer to implement established BIM procedures and methods to be employed in using technology to solve complex project design, engineering, construction and project management problems and for otherwise carrying BIM Modeling through to completion. The position is Multi-discipline‐based with a focus on Architecture and Structural. The BIM designer is responsible for carrying out and coordinating all work associated with the use of BIM on local office projects, which include:
• Participates in the project‐based BIM Strategy call for all projects.
• Coordinates the application of BIM technologies at the project level per the BIM Strategy documents
• Works with Project and CAD Manager in producing the project‐based BIM Implementation documents
• Responsible for day‐to‐day BIM project support.
• Providing BIM production support for project teams; including project model setup, model coordination meetings and facilitate the BIM Model phase to Construction Document phase of project with department teams.
• BIM training when necessary
• Ensures the BIM Model adhere to all internal and client specific goals and standards
• Monitor Project Delivery to ensure compliance with the agreed upon strategy, standards and work processes
• Participate in scheduled conference calls with other BIM coordinators for the purpose of knowledge sharing, management and lessons learned. |
